Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES shall include, but not be limited to the following:

 

  • Perform secretarial duties for the principal of the school in a pleasant and efficient manner; maintain complete and accurate student accounting records. Aid in the efficient operation of the school
  • Perform clerical and secretarial duties
  • Assist with principal’s budget and purchasing duties
  • Serve as the school receptionist when needed
  • Maintain school calendar
  • Direct the flow of traffic through the office
  • Type correspondence, bulletins, requisitions, reports, memos, etc.
  • Compose routine correspondence
  • Advise parents of school policies and procedures
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Coordinate requests for homework when students are ill
  • Maintain teacher requisitions, deliver materials and file requisition forms
  • Stock and maintain inventory of school supplies and advise business office of depleting supplies
  • Duplicate and collate materials, as needed
  • Assist in emergency treatment to students and school personnel
  • Register students, set up records and maintain records when needed
  • Organize substitute teachers/aides for absent staff members
  • Perform additional duties efficiently and willingly, as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience

     Required:  

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Good command of business English and able to write letters using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Knowledge of office procedures and basic bookkeeping procedures
  • Knowledge of the operation of standard office machines
  • Ability to communicate with others in a clear and precise manner and work cooperatively and tactfully with students, staff and public even in times of great stress
  • Respect for confidentiality of records, correspondence, and conferences

Ability to work with mathematical concepts.

Ability to apply principles of reason and logic for problem-solving purposes.
