JOB GOAL: Guide and assist students in learning subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible citizens.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES shall include, but not be limited to the following:
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and times designated
- Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students in accordance with State and District requirements for curriculum
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Prepare for assigned classes. Show written evidence of instructional planning following established District format
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals. Based on these goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc.
- Encourage students to set and maintain acceptable standards of classroom behavior
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the students
- Assist students to become self-directed learners
- Understand and apply knowledge about student growth and development in order to provide maximum student learning
- Implement the District’s philosophy of education, the instructional goals and objectives
- Participate in school goal setting, achievement and assessment
- Recognize the learning disabilities of students and provide an appropriate instructional program to meet those needs
- Enforce safety precautions and guidelines to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy and administrative regulations
- Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules of classroom behavior, procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and equitable manner
- Make provisions to be available for educational related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and provide input on aide/volunteer performance
- Maintain and improve personal/professional competence
- Attend staff meetings and serve on District/school committees as required
- Prepare substitute guidelines and lesson plans in timely manner
- Enforce and follow the policies and administrative regulations of the District
- Perform all duties as assigned
