ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES shall include, but not be limited to the following:
- To provide, in cooperation with the faculty and administration, a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient environment for students to learn and develop
- Maintains assigned buildings and premises, sidewalks and driveways in a neat and orderly manner during working hours
- Sweeps, vacuums, dusts, and waxes classrooms daily, and cleans all sinks and other such fixtures
- Maintains a daily inventory of supplies and reports the needs for replacements
- Reports safety hazards and the need for major and minor repairs
- Performs safety measures and secures the area
- May be required to alter working hours to perform regularly assigned duties
- Perform additional duties efficiently and willingly, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and/or Experience
Required: Ability to operate, care for, and clean custodial equipment
Ability to understand MSDS (material safety data sheets)
Knowledge of cleaning and simple repair techniques for equipment and materials used in
custodial work
Preferred: High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous custodial experience
Ability to follow plans and schedules
Demonstrated aptitude of competence for assigned duties and responsibilities
Basic Skills
- Ability to maintain rapport and composure with parents, students, staff, and the general public
- Ability to recognize potential problems and take steps to prevent hazards
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written documents. Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
Reasoning ability
Ability to apply principles of reason and logic for problem-solving purposes.
